Want to study Abroad with Scholarship? Why you should consider Canada & U.S. in 2022

EduAbroad 411 seeks to provide readers with invaluable information on how to study abroad with funding and scholarship opportunities. The primary focus is to provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete graduate studies application to gain admission with funding and scholarships into graduate and post-graduate programs in any university of choice. In this article, I will be discussing some of the reasons why you should consider Canada and the U.S. for graduate studies in 2022.

As of 2020, there are 530,540 international students studying in Canadian schools at all educational levels (Canadian Bureau for International Education). Among the major reasons for choosing Canada as a preferred destination for studies are: 1.  the high standard of the Canadian education system; 2. Canada is known for being a non-discriminatory and tolerant country; and 3. Canada’s reputation as a safe society (Canadian Bureau for International Education). To add to that, about 60 percent of international students in Canada plan to apply for permanent residence after their studies, and 96 percent of international students, including me, recommend Canada as a study destination.

The Institute of International Education’s Open Door report stipulates the number of international students in the U.S. has increased to over 1 million in 2020 from 764,000 in 2011. In July 2021, the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinkin, and Miguel Cardona, Education Secretary, speaking at the EducationUSA Forum expounded on the importance of international education to people around the world, specifically, how it helped people to understand and effectively integrate and connect with each other. Through video conferencing, Blinkin stated, “It’s strongly in our national interest for the United States to remain the World’s top study destination for international students.” These statements intend to make a difference to international students currently in the U.S. and those considering coming to pursue their studies in the country (VOA, 2021).

Many notable schools in Canada and the United States provide funding and scholarships on admission to several graduate and post-graduate programs, ranging from full-funding and on-campus employment to part-funding, with other opportunities such as Bursaries, Research Fellowships, and other merit-based scholarships to completely fund your studies without hustle. There are post-graduation opportunities for international students to obtain legal working permits, such as the Post Graduate Work Permit in Canada, and the Optional Practical Training (OPT), that allows international students to continue their training in a practical working environment after graduation, allowing them to integrate into the society. Note that these are legal working documents that will grant you stay and opportunity to work in these countries for as long as the document permits.

Overall, this blog will provide information that will guide your decision about your preferred destination for a graduate and post-graduate program, provide instructions and information on how to select your schools, how to apply and gain admission with good funding and scholarship packages, and how to apply for your student visa and study permit documents.
