Students will be given the chance to study in ultra-modern universities with access to high quality equipment and educational assistance from some of the prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. The success of applicants is assessed by the research focus and future contribution to academia and higher education in the Commonwealth countries. Note that research must be focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in their home countries.

Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships 2022 for Low & Middle Income Countries

The Commonwealth Scholarships 2022 are divided into six (6) Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) themes: Science & Technology, Strengthening the Health System and Capacity, Strengthening Global Peace, Security and Governance, Strengthening Reliance and Response to  Crises, Access, Inclusion, and Opportunity. Students who have interests in any of the above areas are welcome to apply to the scholarships for the 2022/2023 academic year. The Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships 2022 are fully funded for the defined length of the program, with monthly stipends, airfare, study grants, and Warm clothing allowance for the length of the program. Benefits of the Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships 2022

  • Full tuition
  • Monthly stipend of £1,133, or £1390 if the university is in the London Metropolitan area
  • Warm Clothing allowance
  • Paid airfare (from home country to the UK and return after studies)
  • Study travel grant for study-related travels
  • Monthly Child allowance of £485 if scholar is widowed, divorced or a single parent

 

Eligibility Requirements for the Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships 2022

  • The applicant must be citizen of an eligible Commonwealth country; British-protected persons or applicants with refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country are eligible to apply
  • Applicant with permanent resident status in an eligible Commonwealth country can apply
  • Applicant must be registered for a PhD program at an institution in an eligible Commonwealth country by the start of the award (September 2022)
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Demonstrate connection between the institution or department in your home country and proposed university in the UK
  • Be available to start the program in the UK in September 2022 
  • Hold a first degree (minimum of Second Class Upper) and postgraduate qualification (a Master’s degree) by September 2022

How to Apply for the Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships 2022 

  • To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must first apply to an institution in the UK that has a scholarship agreement with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC). Here is the list of universities with funding agreement with the CSC.
  • Applications should be submitted online through the CSC online application
  • Submit all required documents
  1. Copy of a Passport or national ID
  2. Transcripts
  3. Supporting Statements of the supervisor from the home country
  4. Supporting Statement of the supervisor from the proposed university in UK
  5. A Reference letter 
  6. Research Proposal
